Welcome to The Headquarter’s Range, the official podcast of the Florida Cattlemen’s Association!

In this introductory episode, FCA Executive Vice President Dusty Holley welcomes listeners to the range and shares what you can expect from FCA’s newest way to stay connected.

Each week, we’ll bring you a quick rundown of cattle markets, policy updates and other news affecting Florida’s cattle industry. Once a month, we’ll go beyond the weekly roundup with a full-length episode featuring conversations and topics relevant to Florida cattlemen.

We rode at a high lobe for most of the day. And we made a big circle and brought them all down through the coolies and draws to the big roundup round. The river was rising from three days of rain. We brought them through to the headquarters range.

I'm Dusty Hawley, Executive Vice President of the Florida Cattlemen's Association. Over the past year, we've brought you the Headquarters Range segment in the pages of the Florida Cattlemen and Livestock Journal. Through that column, members of the FCA staff have shared their perspectives on our association, our industry, and the work taking place behind the scenes on behalf of Florida's cattle producers. Now, as FCA continues expanding its media presence, we're bringing the headquarters range to you in a brand new way. Each week, the headquarters range weekly roundup will give you a quick, deeply researched look at what's been happening across the cattle industry and what may be coming over the horizon. We'll cover cattle markets, developments in Tallahassee and Washington, DC, FCA activities, important issues affecting Florida's cattle country, and the work being carried out by our members, volunteer leaders, and industry partners. And just like the headquarters range in the magazine, you may hear different voices from the FCA staff depending on the week. But no matter who is behind the microphone, our commitment will remain the same to bring you timely, dependable information and explain why it matters to Florida cattlemen. Before we begin, we also want to offer a very special thank you to Red Stiegall for graciously allowing us to use his song, The Big Circle. I reached out to Red's team, and surprisingly, Red personally sent word back giving us permission to use the music. Mr. Steagall is a tremendous man, the poet laureate of Texas, and a true friend to cattlemen and the cattle industry. The Big Circle fits what we hope to accomplish here. Our industry is built on land, livestock, family, tradition, and generations of people carrying the work forward. So the country is wide and our operations may look different. We remain connected by the same calling and the same way of life. We're proud to bring you the headquarters range weekly roundup, and we look forward to riding that big circle with you every week.
